About Me

Hello world.  My name is Emilee.  I’m a forty something woman who was sick of feeling like crap.  So I decided to turn my life around to be able to live a healthy, energetic, extraordinary, long life.  My journey began about 11 years ago when I said enough is enough and quit smoking.  I started this blog about 10 years ago to motivate myself and hopefully others.

It has been a health food journey for sure, as I am learning so many things about nutrition.  I have also started running, something my former smoking self couldn’t do for more than 30 seconds if that.  Now I am proud to say I have completed 3 half marathons and several other races!!!

I turned 30 and gained twenty pounds in what seemed like overnight. Now, thanks to eating wholesome foods and exercising, I have managed to take off that extra twenty pounds, and build muscle. I feel better than I did in my twenties! And I can do a back handspring again!!

Before my turning point, I had suffered from endometreosis for years.  The pain progressed through the years from severe menstrual cramps, to painful ovulation, to constant pain in my left side.  It got to the point where some days I couldn’t even bend over to pick something up or stand up straight.   I finally said enough is enough, and took charge of my health.

Today, I’m happy to say, that the pain is under control, I feel great eating healthy and working out, and I no longer get cravings for cigarettes.  I owe all this to God and I’m not afraid to say it!  When I was at my low point, I prayed and prayed that God would put it in me to change my life.   He gave me motivation, determination, and passion to make those changes and stick to them, and I am so thankful.

  3. Hi Emilee, nice to read your blog and well done for getting back into health and fitness! I used to be a smoker and serial yo-yo dieter. I also used to drink far too much. I gave up smoking 3 years ago, started running 2 years ago and changed my diet to a low carb one 1 year ago and haven’t looked back! Keep up the good work!

  5. Hi Emilee.

I just found your blog and I have become addicted to reading your posts all the way back to when you started the blog. What a great inspiration for me in my search to start leading a healthier lifestyle! The one thing I really missed was a blog post about your experiences while quitting smoking. Any chance you’d be willing to share your story by post or email? As a 35 year old mom of a little one, January 1 is my quit date. I would love to hear how you did it!!

    • Hi Lisa!

Awesome! Good for you on choosing to quick smoking. It was the single best thing I have ever done! It has allowed for me to create the healthy lifestyle that I have longed for, and I feel better and healthier now than I did in my teens and twenties. I’m convinced I’m getting younger:) I will write a post on my experience of quitting, and any help and support I can offer along your journey I am more than happy too.

      Stay in touch.
